Awakened by Dragonflies
Awakened by Dragonflies
It was Thursday
The date, May 28
A beautiful morning
Coffee in hand
Still in pajamas
Still waking up
Sitting inside, sipping
Casually watching outside
I noticed something
Wings were fluttering
I went outside
The deck, hot
My feet burned
The house, surrounded
Dragonflies were everywhere
Hundreds of them
They were fervent
They stayed hours
Zipping around continuously
Like a tornado
I just watched
Feeling more awake
What’s the reason?
I asked myself
Merely natures wonder?
Or something greater
That very night
Our city burned
Destruction was rampant
Those dragonflies, messengers
I am awakened
